The ride out was calm and enjoyable with beautiful blue skies and a few Spanish and King Mackerel caught trolling along the way. Thursday morning started out bumpy in about 400 feet of water with a steady stream of Queen Snapper, Mahi and Scamp, Yellowedge and Kitty Mitchell Grouper. By afternoon the seas laid down with Vermillion Snapper and Amberjack at a slower pace. One Amberjack in particular estimated to be around 80 lbs. surfaced with only a head, due to a hungry shark. Friday morning Capt. Mitch ventured to deeper waters around 1300 feet. Choppy seas returned and a slower pick of Gray and Golden Tilefish, Black Belly Rosefish and Yellowedge and Scamp Grouper. The trip home could not have been better; a perfect smooth ride back to the dock! Congratulations to Scott and Mike on their Queen Snapper tie and Jason’s Golden Tilefish!
