The Gulfstar departed with only 10 passengers onboard at 8 PM. The weather forecast was excellent and the fishing anticipation was amped up. We steamed 7 hours in flat calm seas and arrived to the first spot at around 3 AM. The first couple spots produced a pick of Mangrove Snapper, Red Porgies, a couple Grouper and some Vermillion Snapper. The Saturday sunrise bite gave us a bunch of large gag grouper that were quickly released and large Mangrove Snapper biting as soon as the bait got to the bottom. We made several moves all day long on Saturday picking a few Red Grouper here and there. Mixed in were some more Mangrove Snapper, Porgies, Vermillion Snapper, more Gag Grouper and Amberjack up to 40 lbs. Saturday night the fishing remained steady all night with some Kingfish, Bar Jack, Grouper and Snapper. Mike Fowler took the Grouper Jackpot, along with the cash came a free trip aboard the Gulfstar valued at $505.00. Kenny Himes took the Amberjack pool with a nice AJ around 40 lbs. and Mike Bavis took the Snapper pool with an awesome 8 lb. Mangrove.
