Wow…what  an awesome day!  The sun seemed endless as we departed the dock and headed out. But as  soon as we passed Anclote Park… boom..the fog appeared. It seemed to be waiting for us, like an uncollected debt.

While spotting markers in the channel, Capt. Jerry says with a smile “are we having fun yet”?

It was very thick passing the Island but leveled off just a bit as we made our way to the fishing grounds. SO many cool people on the boat today. I emphasize on the passengers often because the energy that people bring to the table (or boat) makes up for 90% of the fishing experience (in my personal opinion.)

We had folks from  Minnesota, California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and even a few “transplants” aboard. All so very congenial, all eager to catch fish.

And lots of fish to go around. Some monster grunts. Sea bass, and a  couple Porgies. Two nice size Gags were caught and released as well as a couple of undersize Red Grouper.

We all had a great time while the fog rolled in and out all day. We even spotted a rainbow in the middle of a fog bank (click here for pics) A few dolphins were hanging with us too for a while.

“John” from Buffalo remarked that if he was home, he would be cutting holes in the ice if he wanted to do any fishing. “Its all good chillin in Tarpon Springs”

A shout out to “Rita” who celebrated her birthday today on the boat with her son. They both had a great time.

It was yet another fabulous day of fishing aboard the Gulfstar.  More good times are on the way. 😉
