Once upon a time, we scheduled a twelve hour trip. At the time,we were tediously planning out the new “special permit” schedule.

Due to recent bad weather and a few cancelled  days,Captain Rich made the last minute decision to go ahead and make today a “Special Gag trip”. Literally, LAST minute.

The crowd was a very small one. It was almost like a private charter. Lucky bunch. And a great bunch at that. Most were regulars and a few newbies. One things for sure..everybody had a great day.

The weather was absolutely perfect. Captain Jerry was working in about 60 feet of water.

Five Gags were caught right off the bat on the first stop. Jean “the cheat” bragged about her fortunate catch of a Gag or two. She caught one on the first stop and the last stop.

I asked Captain Jerry about the anchor course today and he said it was great till the tide turned!

“when the tide quit, the fish quit” he says. It had gotten just “too still”.

It was all good though. Definitely a huge improvement on fishing compared to the last couple of trips.

Not sure what the total Gag count was, but it looked pretty good to me (click here for pics)

A couple of nice Scamps were caught, some Amberjack, Red Grouper and a ton of Grunt.

Nice day of fishing AND catching…

Captain Joy
