We had a 7AM departure tine today with beautiful weather ahead of us. Captain Mitch was at the helm He was fishing in about 30-40 feet of water. This was the closing day for Gag Grouper but we are still in the program and still have our tags to use aboard the Gulfstar regardless of the closing season.
The Grouper bite was on and off through out the day, and at the last stop they picked off the majority of the total. There were some break offs and missed opportunities as well.
“I had a monster on my line until he rocked me up” commented one of the fisherman.
All in all this was a semi productive haul. Some beautiful size gags were brought in along with sizable flounder, Porgies , Sea Bass and Grunts.
