Capts Mitch and James report a rough ride down to the Tortuga’s for this sold-out Specialty trip. By the time they made their first stop, the gulf laid down like a tired old man and the rest of the trip was spectacular weather. They made their first stop just a few hours short of their destination on a spring to wrangle in a bunch of Yellowtail, Mutton and Pompano, but that was just a preview compared to the main event 50 miles further south. Tuesday night saw some great Mutton fishing while Wednesday day they spent drift fishing for Red Grouper, with a steady pick of Margate and Mahi  and at night headed inshore for some more Mutton and Yellowtail Snapper action. As Thursday dawned the Grouper bite was off the chain with 20 head of Red and some Gag as well as a couple of Carborita’s. (Black Grouper) This trip was in no way just a massacre of Mutton, our anglers clobbered the Grouper and Yellowtail Snapper just as hard.

Pool Winners were Earnest C’s Mutton Snapper AND Red Grouper

Happy Fishing,

Mary
