This was one fish load of a fishing trip. The weather was absolutely picture perfect and the group we had aboard was top notch.
Captain Jerry was in command and worked in depths ranging from 480 to 1300 feet. Along with Jerry there was Captain Ron, Ryan, Shane and Joann in the Galley.
Fishing was “off the hook” with an impressive amount and variety of species that included: Snowy Grouper, Yellow Edge Grouper, Kitty Mitchell, Grey tile, Queen Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, a couple of HUGE Amberjack and one MONSTER African Pompano!
We had a newbie with us, he was fondly named “Iron Man Steve” by his fellow fisherman. The report was that “Steve” hand cranked ALL of his fish. Including a whopper Kitty Mitchell. “he was definitely the “MVP” of the trip commented one passenger. Then there was Paul, dubbed “the underdog” because no matter what was going on with him and his tackle, he clobbered the fish!
He ended up going home with both Snapper and Grouper jackpot while “Chris” aka “Peck” took home the jackpot pool for largest Amberjack.
