The Gulfstar was honored once again to host the VFW Post 8681 annual charter. They had a pleasant ride out to the fishing grounds and upon their arrival to the first drop fishing was hot; unfortunately, it was the out of season American red Snapper and Gag Grouper that was keeping lines tight. After the “off limits” fish action slowed down, Mango Snapper came through in low numbers. A few more stops were made throughout the twilight hours with similar results. After sunrise, they moved off the big bottom to some flatter grounds to find more Gags and Red Snapper along with some Red Grouper and Porgies before their 11am departure home. The pool winning fish were Dave Danunzio’s Mango and a tie between Wayne Powers and Mac McFarland’s Red Groupers. Thank you all for your service!!
