This trip began as a regularly scheduled private charter for our friends of the VFW. Unfortunately many of their members were affected by Hurricane Irma and could not attend so instead of rescheduling the trip we opened it up to Gulfstar Customers and they showed up! Lucky for all because for a trip that almost wasn’t, it turned out to be a very productive outing. Capt’s James and Mike report that a light chop made for a little of a bumpy ride out which was quickly forgotten when later in the evening and through the night the Mangrove Snapper bite was off the chain with a pick of Gag Grouper and King Mackeral mixed in to keep them guessing. As morning approached, the fishing stayed excitedly steady with our anglers having to fish through and return to the sea almost 100 forbidden Red Snapper. The bite stayed smokin’ hot right up till the end of the trip producing even more Mango’s and Gag’s, some B-liners, Lane Snapper, Scamp and Red Grouper and a monster 60+lb Cobia.

Keith’s Mangrove Snapper and Vic’s Red Grouper won the Jackpots.
